Sir Peter Davis has been the Chief Executive of three major FTSE companies across multiple sectors; Reed International/Reed Elsevier, Prudential and J Sainsbury plc. He has also been a non-executive director of Boots, Cadbury Schweppes, Granada and BSB. He was also a main board director at UBS AG of Zurich and Senior Advisor and member of the Advisory board of Permira Advisors until 2009.

Peter was knighted in 1997 for services to education, training and industry. He has recently retired as Chairman of the Marie Curie Cancer Care in March 2011, a position he has held since 2006. He was Chairman of the board of Business in the Community and was Chairman of the CBI Finance and General Purposes Committee. Peter has served as Chairman of the Welfare to Work New Deal Task Force as well as the Basic Skills Agency and the National Advisory Council for Education and Training Targets.

Peter is a founding Board member of the Marketing Council, Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Marketing Society. He has been a Board member of the Royal Opera House and Chairman of the Royal Opera House Foundation and Chairman of the Development Committee. He has also been a Trustee of the V&A.
